Created instructor-led and web-based learning end to end as project manager and instructional designer. Translated technical procedures such as for insurance adjustment and database queries and developed easy to understand solutions for new hire and role-specific training. Courses have included compliance training, using multiple databases to resolve specific scenarios for technical support personnel.  Strong ability to quickly learn new products, processes, applications, and systems.

Utilized extensive experience designing, developing, and delivering learning solutions

Led training project teams by gathering stakeholder requirements, assessing scope and timelines, and prioritizing work processes using project charters/statements of work to define expectations, risks, and deliverables. Collaborated with SMEs and stakeholders to craft a multimodality solution using ADDIE and SAM methodologies. This included the development of storyboards, audio/video scripts, job aids/infographics, scenarios, online course content, and learning assessments based on proven adult learning techniques.

Coached junior and new instructional designers, working with them to collaboratively decide on best practices in visual design, such as the palette, and branding in creating templates for eLearning, PowerPoint, job aids, and videos. This also includes accessibility best-practices in course design and development, such as using a color-blind agnostic palette, audio tracks with captions or scripts, and alt tags on images for screen readers.

Led change management efforts on several high-profile projects as a ProSci certified Change Management Practitioner. Persuaded executives about the necessity and payoffs of change management, in a culture that traditionally struggled to move projects to completion.  Developed plan for messaging and coaching executives, managers, and employees throughout project lifecycles. Utilized in-depth knowledge and familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) as the primary administrator for Oracle Taleo Learn and Oracle Cloud Learn. Wrote, recorded, and produced monthly podcasts about Nordic culture and music with guest interviews on Nordic on Tap. See nordicontap.com for examples. Production includes field and studio interviews, audio recording and editing using Audacity, Audition, and Reaper and graphics creation using Photoshop. Created and maintained website for the podcast using html5, css, and javascripting skills.

Wrote science and culture articles for the Norwegian-American News, including a 2-part story on the environmental risks and health concerns over farmed salmon. See ericstavney.com for examples.

Co-hosted a weekly music variety show with interviews and book reviews on the Scandinavian Hour, broadcast on KKNW-Bellevue.  Scheduled guest interviews, sought and secured new music, sold advertising, and promoted the show. Production included field and studio interviews, audio recording and editing using Audacity and Adobe Audition.

Senior Instructional Designer

Trained and managed subject matter experts in creating over 50 video-based courses. Partnered with SMEs on using screen recording software and coached them to meet course learning objectives. Edited videos in Adobe Premiere, wrote questions to check understanding, and uploaded modules into the learning management system (Saba and Captivate Prime).  

Drove the completion of stalled projects, saving the company valuable resources and getting staff trained with current content. Senior Instructional Designer

Designed, developed, and deployed self-paced software simulations, job aids, print materials, and a training website for 4500 pharmacy employees across 450 stores, enhancing productivity even as they transitioned to new pharmacy enterprise software. Created knowledge checks and assessments based on learning and performance objectives.

Created job aids for worldwide deployment of Kronos Workforce Central Timekeeping software. Designed a course end-to-end for change management employees to improve their project management performance in risk assessment and mitigation.

Consulted with subject matter experts to create curricula, learning assets (in Storyline SCORM courses with graphics, course outlines, job aids and references, wiki articles, PowerPoints, and videos) based on needs assessment, and served as project manager and designer to get the curricula launched, working, and reviewed.

Authored several eLearning programs and assessments in Articulate Storyline as part of training in SAP accounting software, a new customer credit card program, and new software for selecting tires in the automotive division.  Maintained programs in the company?s Learning Management System (Success Factors).  

Designed, developed, and deployed instructional videos overview of new software (using Camtasia) to enable Tire Center employees to select the right tires for their customers quickly. Recorded voice over in Audacity and produced a version in French-Canadian.

Managed an instructional design team to design a project management course for a major corporation.  Drove the virtual team (we met and conducted business remotely through Skype, email, Google Drive, and Dropbox) to meet design milestones and deadlines. Interviewed employees and collected results to design interventions to bridge performance gaps.

Spearheaded needs analysis, organizational analysis, task analysis, objective-writing, and design for a face-to-face 3 hr. course.  Collaborated with managers and staff to create course materials to close the identified performance gap.

Conducted a full performance evaluation of the recruitment program for a national agency for mentors for children, including performance tests, documentation review, interviews, and statistical analysis of effectiveness.  Provided valuable, actionable recommendations to improve recruitment.

Designed, developed, and maintained a large variety of training materials to enhance organizational learning, including e-learning, virtual, and instructor-led modules.  This included knowledge check and assessments based on learning and performance objectives. Analyzed performance and learning requirements to coordinating with training staff for delivery of training.  Created style guides and templates with departmental branding in compliance with organizational policy.

Served as learning and performance department learning management systems administrator (Cornerstone and Kenexa), uploading, maintaining, and creating reports on over 50 courses and assessments.  Delivered online training and virtual sessions in WebEx, Adobe Connect, and Skype.

Produced many eLearning programs ranging from 15-30′ on technical topics using Adobe Captivate, Articulate Studio, and Articulate Storyline.  One of these programs, describing a key company product, was considered of such quality that it was assigned to all customer-facing employees and new hires.  Authored several software simulations in Adobe Captivate.  

Spearheaded design and development of role-specific, new hire training program for technical support workers, greatly improving performance and employee satisfaction (according to manager and employee surveys). The realized goal was to deliver a quality introductory program that allowed tech support specialists to diagnose client problems by collecting data and analyzing that data in technical systems and software in seeking problem resolutions.
